Google spins off autonomous driving research as Waymo

Google has spun off its project to develop self-driving cars into the new company Waymo. At a presentation of the company, Waymo CEO John Krafcik said it's focused on developing self-driving car technology, rather than specifically cars, the Wall Street Journal reports. "We're not in the business of making better cars. We're in the business of making better drivers," he said. It also does not plan half measures of only partial autonomy and will develop "100 percent on level four and level five, fully driverless solutions" Recode reported from event.
