Google to appeal against EUR 50 mln fine for GDPR breach

Thursday 24 January 2019 | 12:37 CET | News
Google will appeal against the EUR 50 million fine issued by France's data protection watchdog Cnil over GDPR violations. In a statement seen by Business Insider, the company defended its action, maintaining that it "worked hard to create a GDPR consent process for personalised ads that is as transparent and straightforward as possible." The decision to appeal was also motivated by Google's concern over how the Cnil ruling could impact publishers, content creators and technology companies in Europe and internationally.
