Google trims list of required Android apps - report

Google is reducing the amount of its apps that it requires makers of Android smartphones to pre-install. Google dropped four apps from the list that phone makers must install in order to get access to Google's Play app store, a person familiar with the matter told the Wall Street Journal. These are Google+, Google Newsstand, Google Play Games and Google Play Books. The required bundle now includes a total 11 Google apps, while the dropped apps are still available for download on the Play store. The decision comes as Google faces a competition investigation by the European Commission into the
