Govt backs Trai's 800 MHz base price proposal - report

The Indian government will allow mobile phone operators to sell or share spectrum in the 800 MHz band in Rajasthan, Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu by paying the base price recommended by the sector regulator for the upcoming auctions, The Economic Times reports, citing unnamed sources with knowledge of the matter. However, according to these sources, operators will have to match the winning auction price in those circles after the next sale scheduled for June.
