Govt defends its role in Orange-Bouygues non-merger

French economy minister Emmanuel Macron defended the government's position regarding the failure of Orange and Bouygues Telecom to reach a merger agreement, Les Echos reports. Speaking at an event hosted by local authority electronic communication association Avicca, Macron said that the government has a regulatory responsibility to ensure good investment, equip the country, and protect workers and consumers. "
