Three groups have applied for support from the northern Dutch province of Groningen to bring faster broadband to the region. The province said it expects to decide on a winning bidder this summer, from the three candidates Cooperatie Samen Glasvezel Groningen UA, Breedband Groningen and Rodin Broadband Groningen. The province has identified around 12,000 adresses without fast broadband where commercial players don't plan to invest. Around EUR 40 million in financing is available to upgrade the sites.
