GSMA calls for more consolidation in Europe

The GSMA has welcomed the European Commission's approval of the merger of German operators O2 and E-Plus, but said more needs to be done to facilitate consolidation in the industry. The industry group expects consolidation will support investment over the long term, allowing operators to benefit from the economies of scale enjoyed by the US' large operators and consumers to receive faster speeds and access to new technologies.
