GSMA calls for new ICT public policy to boost EU economy

Wednesday 9 July 2014 | 14:59 CET | News
The GSMA has presented a statement to Matteo Renzi, Italian prime minister and current president of the EU Council, calling for a fresh and progressive ICT public policy to stimulate economic growth and job creation, and to improve social welfare throughout Europe. Taking advantage of the Digital Venice 2014 event and the fact that the Italian EU presidency has provided a sharpened focus on Europe's digital opportunity, the industry group's wide-ranging statement said that more needed to be done if the continent was to catch up and even leapfrog other industrial regions in the ICT challenge.
