GSMA launches Mobile IoT initiative for LPWA networks

The GSMA has announced the launch of a new project, dubbed the 'Mobile IoT Initiative', backed by 26 leading mobile operators, OEMs, chipset, module and infrastructure companies, designed to address the use of Low Power Wide Area (LPWA) solutions in licensed spectrum. LPWA networks are designed for machine-to-machine (M2M) applications that have low data rates, long battery lives and operate unattended for long periods of time. Analysts have predicted that there will be 2.7 billion LPWA connections by 2022. The GSMA expects  initial specifications for LPWA solutions to be completed by the end
