Guinea-Bissau to get access to undersea cable in 2 years

Guinea-Bissau could have access to an undersea telecommunications cable within two years, according to the Minister of Economy and Finance Geraldo Martins, reports Macauhub. The minister said that access to the new ACE (Africa Coast to Europe) undersea cable system will be possible through a USD 35 million subsidised loan to be granted by the World Bank by December.

The ACE undersea cable system extends from France to South Africa and has been in operation since 2012. Through this connection, Guinea-Bissau would increase its network capacity, as well as communications exchange capacity, mainly through broadband internet.
