GVT buy gives Telefonica 100 mln clients in Brazil - CEO

Telefonica's EUR 7.2 billion purchase of Brazilian broadband operator GVT from Vivendi will give the Spanish company access to 100 million potential customers in the South American country, according to CEO and chairman Cesar Alierta. Speaking to the Efe news agency after receiving Madrid's Order of Merit, Alierta said he was "extremely satisfied" at the purchase of GVT and the market response to the company's EUR 3.05 billion rights issue to fund the deal.
