Hackers using IoT devices to test stolen passwords - Akamai

Akamai has announced that a team from its Threat Research division has discovered that hackers spent several months manipulating millions of internet of things (IoT) devices to test stolen login credentials, such as passwords and usernames. The so-called "web-based credential stuffing campaigns" take advantage of default configuration weaknesses in the operating systems of IoT devices, which often ship with the same default username and password. Akamai said the vulnerable connected devices are being exploited by hackers to mount attacks on websites and the internal networks that host the
