Half of LatAm internet users watch pirated content – study

Around 110 million Latin American internet users watched or downloaded content from sites that violated intellectual property rights in 2015, according to a report prepared by UK consulting group NetNames for regional pay-TV lobby group Alianza. Nearly half of the 222.3 million internet users in Latin America were found to have accessed a site that distributed pirated audiovisual content by means of either a cyberlocker (62.7 million users), peer-to-peer network (46.1 million users) or an IPTV streaming site (8.8 million users). In addition, the study found that 789 petabytes of bandwidth
