Half of US internet homes now owned connected TV devices such as TVs, game consoles and streaming media players in the second quarter, according NPD. The number of homes with one or more connected TV devices rose to 46 million, an increase of 4 million homes compared to the second quarter of 2014. The growth was in part driven by the success of Smart TVs, with 45 percent of TVs sold in the US in the second quarter supporting apps, compared to 34 percent last year and 24 percent two years ago.
