Half the world online by 2017 - UN Broadband Commission

Over half of the global population will be able to access the internet within just three years, according to the latest State of Broadband report released by the UN-backed Broadband Commission for Digital Development. The country-by-country snapshot of the state of broadband deployment worldwide reveals that more than 40 per cent of the world's population is already online, with the number of internet users rising from 2.3 billion in 2013 to 2.9 billion by the end of this year.
