Head of German intelligence agency criticises US tech firms for shirking over content verification

The head of Germany's domestic intelligence agency has lashed out at US technology firms at a conference on 27 November, criticising companies like Facebook for failing to take responsibility for the veracity and accuracy of content posted their sites, according to Reuters. In refusing to make any efforts to differentiate fact from opinion, these companies were undermining democracy, said Hans-Georg Maassen, the head of Germany's Office for the Protection of the Constitution.
