Spanish satellite communications operator Hispasat has signed an agreement with Globalsat, a provider of mobile satellite services in the Americas, to offer broadband communications for small and medium-sized companies in Mexico. The multi-year deal is designed to meet the broadband needs of SMEs and government agencies alike and will be offered via the Ka band of Hispasat’s Amazonas 5 satellite, which started operating last November, combined with the Ku band of its older Amazonas 3 satellite.

The partners added that the satellite-based broadband service will be delivered via Hispasat’s new Ka band ground station in Ixtlahuaca (State of Mexico) and GlobalSat's Ku band station in Tijuana (Baja California).
