Hispasat installing satellite terminals in high voltage towers

Spanish satellite operator Hispasat, now owned by national grid operator Red Electrica, said it has carried out a pilot project to demonstrate the viability of using high-voltage electrical infrastructure to install satellite terminals that will serve to bridge the country's digital divide. In collaboration with Red Electrica's companies Reintel and Elewit, Hispasat conducted a three-month pilot at a substation in Galapagar (Madrid) to verify the operation of satellite terminals in the highly unique electromagnetic environment of high voltage towers.
