Hispasat to launch 36W-1 satellite in January

Spanish satellite operator Hispasat has announced that its new Hispasat 36W-1 satellite has arrived at Europe's Spaceport in Kourou, French Guiana, for a launch scheduled for 28 January 2017. The satellite is described as an all-new type telecommunications satellite, the first based on the SmallGEO platform developed under the European Space Agency's Advanced Research in Telecommunications Systems (ARTES) programme. Hispasat 36W-1 will be launched by French firm Arianespace and will provide multimedia services and coverage for the Americas, Europe and the Canary Islands.
