Hiya, a startup specialising in the screening of unwanted robo and spam calls, has raised USD 18 million in Series A funding in a round led by Balderton Capital, a European early-stage investor, with participation from Nautilus Venture Partners and Lumia Capital. Hiya was launched in 2016 to help operators defend their customers from robo and spam calls globally. It claims to analyse over 3.5 billion calls every month for partners including AT&T, T-Mobile, Samsung and ZTE. The Seattle-based company said it will use the new capital for domestic and international expansion.
