HMD Global starts with new Nokia 150 feature phone
HMD Global, the company that acquired the rights to the Nokia brand for mobile phones, has announced its first two phones. It's starting with two feature phones, the Nokia 150 and Nokia 150 Dual SIM, which will launch in Q1 2017 in selected markets in Asia, Africa and Europe at a recommended price of USD 26.

Featuring hard-wearing polycarbonate shells and scratch-resistant color, the Nokia 150 phones are built to last, the company said. They include 2.4-inch screens, a FM radio and MP3 player, a traditional keypad, Bluetooth, camera with LED flash, LED torch and microUSB charger. The phones come pre-loaded with games including classic Snake Xenzia and a trial of Nitro Racing by Gameloft.

Orange has announced that it will be selling the new Nokia 150 dual SIM feature phone on an operator exclusive basis in Spain. The first phone launched under the Nokia brand by HMD Global is available for EUR 30 (including EUR 5 in credit) to prepay customers, while postpay customers can acquire it for free depending on their plan. The 2G phones comes with a 2.4-inch colour screen, VGA camera and 1,020 mAh battery, which lasts for 31 days on standby.

HMD debuts first 3 Nokia smartphones at MWC

HMD Global, the new company with a license to make Nokia-brand phones, has unveiled its first smartphones at Mobile World Congress. The initial range includes low, mid-range and high-end models as well as new version of the classic Nokia 3310 feature phone. The smartphones will all run Android Nougat and integrate the Google Assistant software. Local launch dates will be announced in the next month.

HMD Global signs UK distributor, GM

HMD Global, the company bringing back Nokia-brand phones, has signed a distribution deal and appointed sales executives in the UK, Mobile News reports. The company signed a new distribution deal with Exertis for UK and Ireland, ahead of the expected launch of its first mobile phones at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona later this month. HMD also appointed Jon French as vice president of Western Europe and Sarah Edge as UK and Ireland general manager.

The Nokia 150, the first feature phone to be unveiled in November by HMD Global, will also be released in the Netherlands. The device will be introduced on the market for an estimated retail price of EUR 55, reports GSM Helpdesk.

Mobilcom introduces basic Nokia phone to German market

German mobile service provider Mobilcom-debitel is offering the Nokia 150 for sale, a mobile phone with no internet access or touch screen. The Nokia 150 retails for EUR 39.99 in Mobilcom's stores and online shops. It includes a FM radio, MP3 and video player and a VGA camera with LED flash. The handset has a 2.4-cm screen and keypad. Its 1020 mAh battery lasts for 22 hours of active use, or 31 days on standby. Nokia released the basic model targeting the 'traditional' market in December last year.

HMD launches Nokia 6 Android smartphone in China

HMD Global has introduced its Nokia 6 smartphone in China. HDM secured the exclusive Nokia brand licensing rights in mobile phones in late 2016. Nokia 6 is HMD's first Android smartphone. Nokia 6 will debut exclusively through JD.com in early 2017 in China for a price of CNY 1,699.

Microsoft has completed the sale of the former Nokia feature phone business to FIH Mobile and HMD Global, the new company set up to develop Nokia-branded mobile phones.
