Hollande, Obama do discuss corporate tax harmonisation

French president Francois Hollande told journalists during a visit to e-commerce company Vente-privee.com's headquarters in Plaine Saint-Denis that a fiscal harmonisation effort is needed at the European and global level and that he would discuss the matter with US president Barack Obama when the two men meet next week. His statement follows reports that France's tax office seeks to collect EUR 1 billion in back taxes from Google, whose European operations are based in low-tax country Ireland. Hollande will be on a state visit to the US on 10-12 February and will meet the heads of Facebook,
