Hollands Kroon to start FTTH deployment next year

Dutch cooperative Breedband Hollands Kroon has applied for a license for the construction of a fibre optic network. With the permit, the company will be able to start construction next year. The cooperative has been working since 2014 on its project to bring fibre to the rural areas of Hollands Kroon. Attempts to find a solution with large markets fell through in 2016, the cooperative said.

Since then, it has been in extensive talks with Dutch operator Kabeltex and says there is a sound business case. A second party has also said it is seriously interesting in bringing fibre to Hollands Kroon. The cooperative is also in discussion with that party. These developments mean that the cooperative can state with enough certainty that the construction of the network will start next year, when it gets the permit. It expects to receive that green light in January.
