Hormuud halts SMS radio news alerts over Al-Shabaab request

Monday 10 July 2017 | 13:19 CET | News
Somalia's largest communication company, Hormuud Telecom, has stopped radio news SMS alerts, Radio Dalsan reports. This happened after terror group Al-Shabaab reportedly asked Hormuud to have its affiliate radio station Andulus included in the radio news alerts. Hormuud reportedly declined Al-Shabaab's request and then a few days later, Hormuud decided to halt its SMS alerts. There are seven radio stations currently under the Hormuud SMS alert, including Radio Dalsan.
