HP has unveiled a new VR headset at its HP Reinvent event presenting new products. Aimed at the enterprise market, the HP Reverb Virtual Reality Headset comes with twice the resolution, two-thirds the weight and half the cost of the company's previous VR headset. Running the Microsoft Windows Mixed reality system, the device costs from USD 649 and will be available for sale from late April.
Weighing 1.1 pounds, the HP Reverb features a 114-degree field of view, integrated headphones with spatial audio and smart assistant compatible dual microphones. It has integrated Bluetooth with pre-paired motion controllers, so users just plug in the headset to start the experience. For multi-user environments there are removable, cleanable face mask cushions.
HP also plans a consumer edition of the headset, which is expected to sell for USD 599 from late April.
Also announced at HP Reinvent is the new HP DaaS Proactive Security Service. Designed for Windows 10 PCs, the service provides real-time malware protection and threat analytics through HP TechPulse. The service also includes a security self-assessment tool and scorecard, and cyber security solutions such incident response and cyberinsurance services from Aon.
