HP quarterly revenues fall 7%, EPS drops less than expected

HP reported revenues for its fiscal first quarter to 31 January down 7 percent from a year earlier to USD 30.0 billion. Revenues form its computer unit Personal Systems fell 15 percent to USD 8.87 billion, with a double-digit drop in unit sales of both laptops and PCs. Printer revenues were also down 7 percent to USD 6.26 billion, and the networking equipment business recorded 10 percent lower sales to USD 5.02 billion, while services revenue grew by 1 percent to USD 8.63 billion and software sales increased 30 percent to USD 946 million, thanks to the takeover of Autonomy.
