HPE buys AI startup, expands HPE GreenLake with support for Microsoft Azure Stack, SQL Server

Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) has bought Determined AI, an AI startup based in San Francisco, for an undisclosed amount. Determined AI is the developer of a software stack that trains AI models more quickly, at any scale, using an open source machine learning (ML) platform. HPE said it plans to combine the software into its own AI and high performance computing (HPC) offerings. Under the deal, the entire team of Determined AI will join HPE. The startup was founded in 2017 by Neil Conway, Evan Sparks and Ameet Talwalkar. Its open-source platform launched in 2020.
