HTC found to infringe on 2 Apple patents
HTC announced it has received notice of the ITC judge's initial determination in the Apple vs. HTC case. Apple originally asserted ten of its patents against HTC in March 2010, and the US-based ITC has now ruled that HTC infringed on two patents. The company said it will appeal to the ITC commissioners, who have the final ruling in the case. HTC added: "We strongly believe we have alternate solutions in place for the issues raised by Apple".

HTC files lawsuit against Apple in UK

HTC has filed a lawsuit against Apple in the UK, Bloomberg reports. The lawsuit, filed with the High Court on 29 July, comes two weeks after the US-based International Trade Commission (ITC) ruled that HTC's Android smartphones had infringed two Apple patents, a judgement HTC plans to appeal. The nature of the new lawsuit was not specified in the notice.

HTC to buy back shares

Taiwan's HTC has implemented a buyback of 20 million shares in attempt to sustain investor confidence in its stock listed on the local bourse, reports Cens. To minimise the negative impact on its share price following the ITC ruling in its patent dispute with Apple, HTC plans to buy 20 million shares at a price of TWD 900 to TWD 1,100 per share from 18 July through 17 September. ITC to investigate HTC claims against Apple

The US International Trade Commission has agreed to investigate HTC's patent-infringemet allegations against Apple. HTC filed the suit at the ITC in mid-May, following similar allegations from Apple against the Taiwan-based smartphone maker. HTC asked the USITC to issue an exclusion order and a cease and desist order against Apple. The regulator said it will conduct a hearing, with the judge's initial ruling subject to review by the entire commission.
