HTC, Apple settle patent lawsuits, enter licence agreement
HTC and Apple have reached a global settlement that includes the dismissal of all current lawsuits and a ten-year licence agreement. The licence extends to current and future patents held by both parties. The terms of the settlement are confidential.

A US judge has ordered Apple to disclose to Samsung Electronics details of its patent settlement with HTC. US Magistrate Judge Paul Grewal accepted Samsung's motion and ordered Apple to produce documents for "attorney-eyes-only", the Wall Street Journal reports. Samsung Electronics is seeking a copy of Apple's settlement with HTC, arguing that it is relevant to Apple's request to block sales of Samsung smartphones. In a filing with a court in San Jose, Samsung said that it is "almost certain" that Apple's settlement with HTC covers some of the patents in the dispute between Apple and Samsung, Bloomberg reports. HTC can continue the launch of its newest smartphones in the US while the ITC investigates whether the phones violate an order that the company stop infringing an Apple patent.
