HTC introduces Vive Tracker for full-body VR
HTC is expanding its Vive VR ecosystem with the launch of the Vive Tracker, to incorporate other objects in the VR experience, as well as the Vive Deluxe Audio Strap for its headset. The Vive Tracker, built to empower developers and accessory makers to make VR more immersive, will be available on 27 March for developer purchase through Vive.com. The Vive Deluxe Audio Strap will go on pre-order on 02 May, with expected delivery in June. Both products will be available for a suggested retail price of USD 99.99 (EUR 119.99, GBP 99.99, JPY 799.00).

HTC said it's seen strong demand already for the Vive Tracker, with over 2,300 applications for the first 1,000 devices. Applications crossed a wide spectrum of non-gaming applications, such as education, enterprise, training, health and wellness. Island 359 developer CloudGate Studio is one of the early adopters. It's using multiple Trackers for full body awareness of players within the game Island 359. This lets players see and use their full body in VR, for example to kick objects or lie down for a better shot.

The Vive Tracker will be available first to developers. General consumer availability is expected later in the year, as accessories come on to the market.

The Deluxe Audio Strap features a new sizing dial to help adjust the fit of the headset for different users. Going forward, all new Vive BE sales will include the Deluxe Audio Strap.

HTC also announced new financing options for Vive are available in North America through Vive.com and China through JD.com. These new offers reduce the upfront costs when purchasing a Vive. Similar programs run at selected retailers in Europe, with further plans to be announced soon.
