HTC reports annual revenues down 58%

HTC reported annual revenues of TWD 10.0 billion for 2019, down 57.8 percent from a year earlier. The decline was slightly less than the 61.8 percent fall in 2018. 

In its monthly sales report, the company said December 2019 revenues dropped 55 percent to TWD 608 million, and fourth-quarter sales were down 56.1 percent to TWD 1.8 billion. 

Further details were not provided. HTC will release a full Q4 report in late January or early February.

HTC names Orange exec Yves Maitre as new CEO

HTC has appointed the Orange executive Yves Maitre as its new CEO, effective immediately. He has worked at the French operator over 14 years, most recently as EVP of Consumer Equipment and Partnerships. Cher Wang, who served as CEO for four years, will continue as chair of the HTC board, focusing on the company's technological shift to VR devices.

HTC narrows losses in Q2 after launch of 5G hub, VR services

HTC reported revenues of TWD 2.8 billion for the second quarter, less than half the TWD 6.8 billion recorded a year earlier. However, the company said its gross margin continued to improve, reaching 20.3 percent compared to 14.7 percent in Q1, and the operating loss reduced to TWD 2.5 billion from TWD 2.7 billion in the previous quarter.

HTC slowed its decline in revenues in June, with a 34.5 percent annual drop to TWD 1.46 billion. That compares to year-on-year drops of around 70 percent in the two previous months.
