HTC rules out takeover by Asus

Tuesday 16 June 2015 | 09:16 CET | News
HTC will not consider a merger with Asustek Computer. In a statement to the stock market, HTC said it "strongly denied" reports of a potential link-up with Asus. "We didn't contact Asustek and will not consider the acquisition," HTC said. Asus chairman Jonney Shih said last week the company would not rule out the possibility of acquiring HTC. Its chief financial officer later told Reuters Shih had "chatted about the topic internally." Asus later clarified it had no current investment plans in HTC.
