HTC targets growth in China

HTC is expanding its operations in China in an attempt to take a bigger share of the growing smartphone market there. Ray Yam, head of HTC's China operations, said in an interview with the Wall Street Journal that smartphone sales in China are expected to grow to 300 million units by 2015, more than double the 150-170 million expected this year. Yam said that in the past two years since he came to the company from LG, HTC has built 2,700 branded counters around China, which will grow to 3,500 by the end of 2013.
