Huawei allegations politically motivated and lack proof - ITU

US concerns about the security of 5G networks built by China's Huawei appear to be motivated more by politics or trade rather than specific evidence, according to the secretary-general of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). "Those preoccupations with Huawei's equipment, up to now there is no proof so far," said Houlin Zhao in response to recent US pressure on governments and individual operators to drop the Chinese company as a network partner due to security concerns over spying.
