Huawei defends UK web filtering system role

Chinese telecoms company Huawei has defended its UK role in the filtering of online pornography, reports the Financial Times. The company controls the HomeSafe network-level filtering system used by ISP TalkTalk. Both companies insist that Huawei has no control over how TalkTalk customers use the software. In a statement, Huawei said that system is similar to other solutions in the market and based on keyword categorisation, with URLs added under instruction from customers.
