Huawei eyes investment in Brazilian factory

China's Huawei is planning to invest USD 800 million over the next three years in its first factory in Brazil to produce smartphones, according to an announcement made by the Sao Paulo state government. An industry source told daily O Globo that the idea is for the unit to manufacture 5G smartphones. However, the Chinese manufacturer only intends to take the plan forward if the sales of its devices, which were launched in April in Brazil, are successful.
