Huawei founder denies company is spying for China

Wednesday 16 January 2019 | 08:58 CET | News
The CEO and founder of Huawei has flatly denied accusations that Chinese authorities have ever asked his company to help spy on its customers. In his first appearance before foreign media since 2015, Ren Zhengfei said Huawei has no regular contact with the Chinese government and hasn't been asked to share "improper information" about its partners. "I love my country, I support the Communist Party. But I will not do anything to harm the world," said Ren, according to Bloomberg, adding that "I don't see a close connection between my personal political beliefs and the businesses of Huawei."
