Huawei leads European patent applications in 2017

For the first time in the history of the European Patent Organisation, a Chinese company, Huawei, topped the list of most patent applications in 2017. Huawei filed nearly 2,400 applications last year, just ahead of Germany's Siemens with 2,200. Siemens moved up from sixth place to second, followed by LG, Samsung and Qualcomm. The top 10 list of applicants was made up of four companies from Europe, three from the US, two from South Korea and one from China.
