Huawei looks to grow cloud service revenues in Russia

Friday 15 March 2019 | 11:31 CET | News

Revenues of the cloud service unit of Huawei totaled USD 2 million in Russia in 2018, reports Cnews.ru. The company expects to grow this to USD 15 million this year and double the amount of its server racks in Russia-based data centres by the end of the year.

Huawei Cloud uses 500 racks in three Moscow-based data centres, and the company plans to increase this to 1,000 racks this year. Huawei said it is ready to use also data centres based in St Petersburg, Yekaterinburg or in other cities, but hasn't agreed contracts on this yet.

Huawei started providing its cloud services in Russia from the Moscow-based 3data centre in March 2018. The Russian cloud service market totaled USD 1.1 billion in 2018, according to data from iKS-Consulting.
