Huawei, Qualcomm test LTE Cat 11 terminals
Huawei and Qualcomm jointly announced the completion of tests using LTE Cat 11 terminals. By aggregating three carriers (3CC CA) with 256QAM on each of the carriers, the Cat 11 terminal can reach a downlink peak data rate of up to 600 Mbps. The tests are based on Huawei’s SingleRAN equipment and a Qualcomm Snapdragon next-generation LTE modem. This terminal supports a maximum aggregate bandwidth of 60 MHz and a modulation scheme as high as 256QAM. These two technologies significantly increase downlink rate.

In February, Huawei released 3CC CA to 55 MHz based on LTE Cat 9 terminals with EE in London. This past April in Hong Kong, Huawei released 3CC CA to 60 MHz based on LTE Cat 9 terminals with HKT in Hong Kong. The companies expect 256QAM to be put into commercial use soon.
