Huawei ready to sign no-spy agreement with Germany
Ren Zhengfei, the founder and CEO of Huawei, said that the company is ready to sign a no-spy agreement with Germany in order to remove potential security concerns relating to the construction of the 5G network, Handelsblatt reports.

The German Interior Ministry had been told that Huawei would be prepared to sign a "no-spy agreement" with the German government, Ren said, according to the newspaper.

The CEO of Huawei said the Chinese government should also agree to obey the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the report added.

The German government does not want to exclude Huawei from the pool of firms that will build the 5G network. However, it has reinforced a series of security measures to make sure that the equipment used is safe.

The CEO of Huawei also said that the company had never installed back doors in its devices, as that would risk its business in "over 170 countries" and its employees "could lose their jobs".
