Huawei set to officially debut HarmonyOS on 02 June

Huawei is planning to officially launch its new Harmony operating system for smartphones at a livestreamed event on 02 June, reports GSM Arena, citing a teaser video on the company’s Weibo handle. The HarmonyOS operating system will replace Huawei's Android-based EMUI OS. It was first announced at the Huawei Developer Conference back in August 2019 after the Chinese company saw its access to Android software and services from Google disrupted due to US sanctions.

Huawei said it intends to have 300 million devices running HarmonyOS by the end of this year, including around 100 million third-party devices with the new OS from the factory. The report adds that Huawei will also debut a new product at the livestreamed event, expected to be the Huawei MatePad2 flagship tablet with HarmonyOS out of the box.
