Huawei smartphone sales up 30% in H1 - report

Huawei's sales of smartphones and other consumer products rose 30 percent in the first half of this year, according to an internal memo seen by The Wall Street Journal. Richard Yu, the head of Huawei's consumer business group, said in a memo sent to colleagues titled 'Don't Fall Behind' that his group already reached more than half of its 2014 profit target in the first half. He said Huawei's strategy of focusing more on mid- to high-end smartphones, rather than selling the cheapest phones on the market, is working well.
