'Huawei spies for Chinese government' - US general

Friday 19 July 2013 | 13:09 CET | News
The former head of the CIA and NSA, General Michael Hayden, told the Australian Financial Review that in his professional judgement, at the very least, Chinese telecom equipment maker Huawei Technologies supplies sensitive intelligence to Chinese government officials. The US has hard evidence that this is the case. Hayden sees Huawei as a significant security threat to the US and Australia. The CIA claims Huawei chairman Sun Yafang once worked for China's foreign intelligence service. Ironically, the UK is currently reviewing Huawei's role in a new cyber security facility near Oxford.
