Huawei to launch own mapping service in October - report

Monday 19 August 2019 | 09:40 CET | News
Huawei Technologies plans to launch its own mapping service in October. Via this move, Huawei seeks to counteract the US government's ban on using Google Map in its overseas smartphones. US travel aggregator Booking is among the software companies that are cooperating with Huawei on the mapping service development, a source familiar with the matter told China Daily. Huawei's mapping service dubbed 'Map Kit' is designed to enable software developers to create applications based on the platform's mapping capabilities.
