Hulu launches in Japan

Hulu has launched its online TV service in Japan, its second market after the US. The company offers in Japan hundreds of films and thousands of episodes of TV shows from a variety of content providers, including CBS, NBCUniversal International Television Distribution, Sony Pictures Entertainment, Twentieth Century Fox, The Walt Disney Company (Japan) featuring content from Disney/ABC Television Group and The Walt Disney Studios, and Warner Bros. Subscribers can watch across connected TVs, gaming and entertainment consoles, Blu-ray players, smartphones, tablets and PCs, without advertising, for JPY 1,480 per month. Hulu said it will continue to add content, including Japanese-produced content and content from across the Asian region in the near term. Customers are offered the first month of the service free to test. Hulu also announced an "exclusive mobile marketing partnership" with NTT Docomo. The details of the partnership will be announced at a later date.
