IBM brings Watson tech system to Japan with SoftBank

IBM and SoftBank Telecom, a subsidiary of SoftBank Corp, have signed a global alliance to bring the Watson technology system to Japan. As part of the alliance, IBM will teach Watson to speak and think in Japanese. IBM and SoftBank will explore new ways to deliver Watson's cognitive and natural language capabilities, including through mobile, tablet, and robots. Via this cooperation, SoftBank and IBM seek to bring new apps and services powered by Watson to market in the region, by establishing a local ecosystem of partners, entrepreneurs, and app developers who will apply Watson in new ways.
