IBM, Sopra win SNCF IT contracts from Steria - report

French railway operator SNCF has switched it software support contract from Steria to IBM, with the lion's share of the work to be done in Eastern Europe rather than in France, reports Le Parisien. Steria personnel currently works side by side with SNCF staff. SNCF's human resources IT support will be transferred to a Spanish subisidary of French group Sopra. Union representative Herve Giudici said 260 subcontractor jobs will be eliminated and 45 SNCF workers will not be replaced, with 500 jobs to go by 2013.
