ICASA says Vodacom-Neotel merger still to be decided

Monday 26 May 2014 | 15:44 CET | News
The Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA) says that it's aware of MTN, Telkom and Vodacom's recent merger and acquisition activity but stressed that such deals still need regulatory approval, MyBroadband reported. The regulator said that while operators have been in discussions and some have informed the authority of their intentions, none of the transactions have yet come before ICASA. Icasa said it will make a detailed comment on the mergers as soon as it has been presented with the substance and details of the deals between the licensees.
