Iceland 2016 mobile subscriptions up 5%, fibre lines up 25%

The Icelandic Post and Telecom Administration (PTA) has published a report on the country's telecommunications sector for 2016, giving a comprehensive overview of the number of lines, call minutes and market share. Last year, the total number of mobile subscriptions in Iceland rose by 5.0 percent to 450,839 from 429,169 in 2015, with 401,613 mobile voice subscriptions (up 4.6%) and 49,226 data-only subscriptions (up 8.8 percent). Fibre lines climbed by 24.7 percent to 42,352 while xDSL fell by 5.2 percent to 84,846.
